Anybody got it? What's it like? Will it really run on a 386 with 4MB of RAM?

This might help The Official DOOM 3 [H]ardware Guide
The game apparently runs okay at 1.5ghz on a Geforce MX 440 with 384mb of ram with all the effects (but one) enabled. Avg fps though is 22, worst when theres several monsters.

I actually subtly linked it in the original post, see if you can spot it. ;)

It sounds a little bit too optimistic to me, funny how they "teamed up" with iD, got an advance look at the game and came to this conclusion.

Sorry didn't notice, you've got a point though, probably to drive sales up by wooing those with lower end machines.

No need to apologize.

Aside from the spec required to run it, stuff like this doesn't fill me with confidence. Oh well, I'm looking forward to Operation Flashpoint 2 and Serious Sam 2 much more than all this Doom/Half-life business.

I'm only about three hours into the game, but it's been very playable with medium detal at 1024x768 on my PIII w/ 256 meg of RAM and a Radeon All-In-Wonder 9600. There's a little hiccup every now and then, but I've never been used to having "high-end" results in the first place, and it's never crashed and never interrupted gameplay for more than 3-4 seconds. Great game, and I'm MUCH more optimistic now about my system being able to handle Sims 2. :)

I got the chance to play it the other day and can confirm it runs like shit on an Athlon XP 2000, 512MB RAM and a GeForce4 Ti 4200.

Ah geez. I was going to go and buy it (a rare event for a file-sharing bastard like myself), but several friends of mine with absoloutly monstrous systems have shared sob stories about lag and whatnot. It'll never run on my machiene... Shit. HardOCP is full of it!

Well, the game is too linear for me. If you like to shoot at everything in sight, this is the game for you. Beside you need an above average system, make sure you have your headphone on and turn off all the lights when you play!!
